The 2016 Scenario
We hope you will participate in the 2016 Student Design Challenge (SDC) to design an unconventional innovative premium package for dry goods food packaging. The package should contain a structural component that enhances its function and stands out on upscale grocery store shelves.
The SDC judges worked hard to develop a scenario that focuses on structural innovation and function as well as graphic design. Students can choose to design a package for cereal, cookies, crackers, pasta or rice. Judges will be looking for unique features such as (but not limited to), opening, reclosing, dispensing and measurement.
The following schools have already submitted their intent forms to participate in the 2016 Challenge:
- California Polytechnic University
- Chowan University
- Ryerson University
- Pratt Institute
Ask your professor when they plan to submit the intent form and make sure you are one of the students on the team!
New to this year’s challenge is the participation of graduate students. One to two graduate students are allowed to act as student advisors to the undergraduate teams and can receive a portion of the cash award if their team(s) wins.
We are so excited for the 2016 challenge and we look forward to your innovative entries. Stay tuned for an announcement on the 2016 guest judges!
